On Saturday, September 21 at Stonehill college, organizers for Fred L. Ames and Maury Klein will present “The Enigma of Oakes Ames“. It is a story of perseverance and courage. Starting at 8:30 in the Martin Institute there will be a full schedule of speakers and discussions and a closing reception at Ames Memorial Hall.

Featured speaker – Two time pulitzer prize winner T. J. Stiles (“The last days of Oakes Ames, the First Days of a New Era”).
Edmond Hands, Easton historian of the early years of Oakes Ames.
Maury Klein is professor emeritus of history at the University of Rhode Island. He is the author of 18 books, including a three-volume history of the Union Pacific Railroad, and owns an international reputation in the fields of business and economic history.
Chris Milford and Jay Wickersham, Cambridge based historians of Oakes Ames and the Ames Shovel Company, Maury Klein (author of the history of the Union Pacific re Oakes Ames and the Credit Mobilier).
